Wetstuff is aimed at those looking to "splash out" and spend some quality time on the water. Cruising to many is THE way to explore. John, our Chief Instructor, has spent many years teaching RYA courses and more recently was the Cruise Leader of the RYA's Sail Cruise ( a role now relinquished in order to set up Wetstuff) for several years.Over the years, this has both encouraged, and enabled many to sail off into their own personal sunset - whether as boat owners setting off for the Med, or charterers being in command of a boat for the first time. Offering a number of opportunities for non-boat owners, and owners alike, to develop their cruising skills to take some of the stress out of sailing, our milebuilders are a great success. We aim to emphasise "fun sailing" rather than "survival sailing", so destinations are chosen according to the weather forecast and crew experience. You will get to log night hours and miles towards RYA qualifications, while getting the opportunity to develop your sailing skills in a fun environment along the way.If you, and your friends, are interested then please drop us a line and we will let you know the plans in more detail once they are confirmed by clicking Milebuilders and Cruising. Plans for 2008 are listed on the right. In 2006, John skippered two legs of the Round Britain Experience, sailing from Padstow up the Irish Sea, round Cape Wrath and down to Edinburgh. The trips were classic mixes of exploring new places and re-visiting old haunts. During the trips he saw sea eagles, dolphins, porpoises and seals, together with fantastic views which can only be seen when afloat. Now, Wetsuff plans went back in 2008 with a series of 2 week trips that will took us as far as the Orkneys. The cruises were a mix of short day sails and longer passages that will enable us to explore some of the fantastic scenery along the way. There were 5 spaces per leg thus ensuring plenty of living space for those on board. To register your interest in similar trips, please drop us a line by clicking on Cruising Trips. The series of cruises saw us log over 2,400 miles, visiting places such as Dublin, Isle of Man, Jura, Skye and Orkney, sailing with dolphins, basking sharks and Minke whales. Along the way there were many great socials including the Classic Malts ceilidhs, The Pimms night in Stornoway sat under the boom tent with it persisting down, and the "private" ceilidh on Hoy where we tied up to the lifeboat before heading up to the hotel where an accordion and whistle provided the entertainment along with a little whisky. On any of the cruises mentioned above, you will get the opportunity to brush up your skills and be coached towards any RYA qualifications you may be working towards.
