New for 2008 -  our In At The Deep End Courses

These courses are designed for those looking to really immerse themselves in sailing and are run at two levels.

In At The Deep End Competent Crew - when our Chief Instructor started sailing it wasn't on a 5 day course. Instead it was a 7 day trip exploring the French Coast and Channel Islands. Our course takes this one step ( or week) further. Join us for one of the two week legs around the British coast next year and you will certainly emerge as a more competent crew than most - and have experience to back up the training. Cost £825 - £925 depending on the trip.

In At The Deep End Coastal Skipper - this course is aimed at Day Skippers who are serious about developing the skills needed to sail further afield. You should already be a competent Day Skipper who has explored their local sailing playground and are now looking to sail off in to the sunset. During the two weeks on board you will get to plan up to 36 hour trips and experience a whole range of different ports and harbours. Cost £825 per head..

Heavy Weather Sailing Cost £250
This 2 day course has been developed to give you the opportunity to practice the techniques used to make life more comfortable when rough weather closed in. You will sail using  trysail and storm jib, practice heaving to and lying a-hull, try out a drogue / sea-anchor and look at what you can do to make life on board more comfortable. Click on Heavy Weather Sailing Dates to find out when our next course is running.

ISAF Offshore Safety Course Cost £250
This 2 day course is run in conjunction with Tailored Marine Services. Initially aimed at racing sailors, in our view these 2 days are invaluable for anyone who is serious about staying safe when they go to sea.

You will benefit from the experience and expertise of Keith, the Navy's senior Sea Survival Instructor. During your time with Keith you will find out what it is like to use a lifejackt, how to inflate a liferaft - and more importantly the actions you need to take once it is inflated.

Once we convinced you that your boat is the best liferaft you can have, we look at the use of heavy weather sails and what you can do to make life more comfortable down below. Just in case " worse things happen at sea" we also look at the damage that may be caused by heavy weather and what you might do improvise a repair.

The final element of this course looks at basic first aid and communications in an emergency. Click on ISAF Offshore Safety Dates to find out when our next course is running.

Shorebased Courses Cost of 5 day theory course is £250.
To back up our range of practical courses, we also offer a range of shorebased courses to help you develop your skills in order to get more out of your time afloat. These range from  one day courses looking at various electronic systems through to the RYA Coastal Skipper / Yachtmaster Theory. Click on Shorebased Course Dates to find out when our courses are programmed,

Electronic Charting Course Cost £80.

Follow this link to Maptech to find out more, or click on Electronic Charting Course Dates to find out when this course is running.

Short Range Certificate - VHF Radio Cost £65 plus exam fee.

This one day course provides you with the training necessary to get the licence, gives advice on how to choose which radio to buy, and how to use EPIRB's.
